A while back I was watching a Don Moen video, and he said something that has really changed the way I think about worship – what we do when we are worshipping or leading worship, and what God desires to do when we lead worship.
First of all, if you are not familiar with Don Moen, I highly recommend that you follow him on YouTube and check out his website. He has a wealth of experience, wisdom, and knowledge about worship leadership, and he is a great teacher and desires to share that knowledge with worship leaders like you and me.
What happens when we worship
So this is what Don said in the video I was watching (paraphrased):
Any time we (a body of believers) gather together to worship, the Holy Spirit is present, and the Holy Spirit expects to move in powerful and miraculous ways. The Holy Spirit expects to heal, to set people free from addiction, to save people.
What a powerful truth about who God is and what God desires to do in our lives. I believe this sets a precedent about what we as worship leaders should expect to happen as well. Every time we gather together to worship, we should pray expectantly that God will literally work miracles in our lives. I hope this encourages you today to lead with boldness and confidence about who God is and what God desires to do among us as we worship Him.
