NOTE: We are not taking lesson requests at this time. We may open up lessons again in the future, but we can’t promise any timeframe. Thanks for your understanding.

    • Hey Ryan,

I can play a few lead lines here and there, but definitely not proficient with it, so I wouldn’t feel comfortable teaching it. Sorry.

  1. Is there a minimum amout of lessons that a person needs to be commited to? can you tell me a little more? I have been using a few of your tutorials and i really like your teaching style.

    • Hi Jason,

No minimum. I give the first lesson for free so you can get a feel for how it works over Skype and if you’d like to continue. I suppose I’d prefer that you take at least one paid lesson after the first free one if you like my teaching style. Thanks!

  2. Hey Brian, I’ve been playing acoustic for nearly a year now, and your video for “One Thing Remains” (which I watched about a day ago, haha) got me playing it pretty quickly. Now, that’s all well and good, but I’ve been wanting to write my own music for a while. Would your lessons help me to do that? Or would it be more geared towards building my musical knowledge?

  3. Hey Brian! I actually live here in Raleigh, and I was wondering if you do guitar lessons in person. If not, I’m sure i could still do the lessons over skype.

  4. Hey Brian, I’ve been playing acoustic for a little over a year now, and I’ve been wanting to start writing my own music/lyrics. Would you be able to help with that?

  5. fo you know other ways to play the tutorials or is that all.because my friends know other ways to play

    • I’m not sure what you’re asking. Other ways to play the songs than the ways I show? In that case, yeah – there are lots of ways to play these songs. Transposing to different keys, different chord progressions, different chord voicings and guitar tunings, etc.

      • oh i guess you answerd my question haha

sorry but i have another question do you need to pay if you can help make our own music?

  6. Hi Brian. I tried to submit the form two or three times two weeks ago but haven’t heard about the tutorials yet. I am interested in taking guitar lessons.

    • Hi Annie! Sorry for taking so long to respond to you. My wife and I just had our first child a few weeks ago, so I’ve been behind on just about everything – sorry about that! I just sent an email your way 🙂

  7. Hey Brian, just started taking lessons after quitting (because of F) 25 years ago. I Love you simple stuff! 8. hello brain , i love to learn how to play since i seem to not be albe to teach my self . when taking new students ill love to be on the list . how much do you charge?

    • Hey Mandi – I typically charge $20/mo. My schedule has changed a LOT in the past 5 months, but I’m going to start adding more instructors soon. Stay tuned 🙂

  9. I’m interested in lessons! Our worship pastor has resigned so I need to step my game up to lead our student worship services.
How often are the lessons typically? How long?

  10. hi brian, after watching a few videos of you, found that it is amazing.

    • Hey Horace – it’s $20 per lesson (usually one lesson a week, 30 minute lessons). Head over to the ‘Private Lessons’ page and fill out the form.

  11. Hi Brian or Bradford.. I’m a complete beginner on guitar and our church has a need for a RHYTHM electric player. Would either of you feel comfortable teaching me on the electric? I would rather take lessons from worship leaders than old rockers if possible. Thanks for your time. God Bless.

  12. Hey Brian, I was wondering if you are doing lessons again? Your tutorials have really helped me. I would love to take lessons from you!

  13. Just found you and your tutorials on YouTube and I love ur approach to the process. I’ve been a Christian for 33 years I’ve been playing guitar for about 33 years but I’m not very good. Have 3 things I’d like accomplish if they are possible with you. 1) Lessons for worship guitar with you via skype. 2) Voice Coaching over Skype – I want to learn to lead worship and sing my own compositions.. 3) Work with me on specific songs I’ve written to get them ready to play for people. Include your input and coaching. Also skype of course.

  14. I would like to try the first guitar lesson I am interested in learning one song to do here this week at a farm concert and am interested in becoming a praise and worship leader
    Thanks and God bless

  15. Hey!! Just discovered your website! Love it!! I have learned a lot, though I have been playing guitar since I was 15. I play currently at my church and you have posted some songs that we are going to be playing!! YAY!! Hope you start back with lessons soon!!

  16. Hey Brian! I would love to learn from you, could you send me an email if a spot opens for your private lessons?

    • Hi Devin,

I’m not doing private lessons currently. I’ve thought about restarting, but I’m working more and more on producing videos and other content that I just don’t have the time for it.

  17. hi brian.. i just wanna ask u about what guitar that suitable for me to buy as im still the beginners in playing guitar?

    • Hi Edora – that depends on your budget and what kind of guitar you want. For an acoustic, the guitar I like to recommend to people is the Martin 000X1AE acoustic guitar.

  18. Hey Brian, love the videos, really helpful quick question, what guitar do you use and recommend for an advancing guitarist that I would be able to use also in the near future as I get better, so I wouldn’t have to go buying a new guitar when it does not accommodate my level of playing.

    • Hi Joshua,

Well I’m a huge fan of my Martin D-35, so that’d by my suggestion. For a cheaper alternative, I like the Martin 000x1ae

  19. Thank you so much for the helpful videos. Its helping me to be better and more confident. As to the TC Helicon Play acoustic. Do you think a guitar and vocal should have a chorus effect? I am getting mixed messages from others. I was looking at the Fishman Loudbox before I saw your video on the Play Acoustic so I could most likely get that sooner since its cheaper. Thanks for all you do. Its a great ministry. Do you have a pay subscription service? I cant find one on your website.

    • Hey Lee,

Chorus is a “modulation effect”, meaning it modulates the pitch of the signal to create the effect… when used properly and in moderation, it can add a bit of nice depth to any source such as a vocal or guitar. However, if used to much, which is really easy to do, it can cause the source to sound robotic, weird or dated (as in used a lot in the 80’s). If that’s the sound you’re going for then rock it strong!!! But if you are looking for a more modern way to enhance the vocal or guitar live, I would stick to a nice reverb and delay.

Again, there are no real rules for what you “can and can’t use”… the beauty of music. But these are some basic suggestions!

      Hope this helps!

      • Hey Brian! Your video in good good father was awesome and it helped me a lot( guitar and vocal wise). Which brings me to ask do you teach on how to sing or just guitar?

        • Hi Domingo – I’m not really a vocal instructor, though I offer tips from time to time. I’d recommend finding a vocal coach or teacher in your area and taking a few lessons. I’ve done that and it makes a big different.

  20. Mr.Brian Wahl I am trying to finish learning how he loves on my guitar off your YouTube video. But I still don’t get the intro raft could you send me a diagram or a picture with a explaination. I would really appreciate it. By the way Im sure youve heard this a million of times but your work does help and inspire people. Have a great new year and God bless.

    • Thanks, Giovanni – I don’t have any kind of diagram like that, but if you search ‘How He Loves Tab’ in Google you’ll probably find some helpful stuff.

  21. Hi Brian, I was just curious if you were accepting online students at this time, I’d love to enroll.

    Thanks,
    Josh

  22. Thank you for what you are doing. I am learning how to play the guitar so I can help out at church. I have found your videos and teaching style easy to follow. I began playing songs quickly using your tutorial. I do understand that you are not offering lessons at this time. I heard your mini message after “Good Good Father” and I know you probably have your hands full. Happy Father’s Day to you and your family. Thank you again.

    • All minor chords will sound “sad” and all major chords will sound “happy”. Hope this helps.

  23. Do you have a tutorial on the song Gods not dead, Home, and other Christian songs on your youtube channel?

    • Hi Grace – God’s Not Dead is probably the song called ‘Like A Lion’ (some bands that covered it have changed the name). We do have a tutorial on that one, but not Home. You can see them all on the ‘Songs’ page.

  24. Hallo..I want to ask..Can you learn or post a video about how to make a good melody for worship..Thx

  25. Hey I would love to have private lessons I’ve just play guitar I watch your vids they have helped me but I would like some who can talk me and me with what I need

  26. Hey Brian, just wanted to tell you that I really enjoyed your tutorial videos you posted on YouTube. I’m brand new to the guitar and out of all the videos I watched on there, yours was the most helpful! I hope to see you post more in the future, as well as offer up some lessons. Take care and God bless

  27. Must say your lessons have been great in building my skills from a beginner! Thank you ever so much for sacrificing your time and pouring out such great resources to the body of Christ to build upon! Really appreciated – such a blessing! God bless you abundantly.

  28. When I try to play cords sometimes I do what you instruct in your videos but they make no sound, not the right sound or the strings aren’t being pushed down hard enough. And when I do push down harder I hurt my fingers. Any tips?
